Our Surprise orthodontist realizes that Valentine’s Day often means hard, sticky, and sugary treats, which can wreak havoc for people with braces. If you wear braces, there are plenty of alternatives that will help keep your Valentine’s Day special without hurting your smile. Here are some Valentine’s Day dinner recipes – and, of course, a sweet treat – that will be kind to your braces and won’t prevent you from enjoying time with your special someone. Our Surprise AZ orthodontist has some suggestions!
We’re looking for meals that are romantic, braces-friendly, and – of course – delicious. Pizza crusts, hard tacos, nuts, and meals with hard bread are off limits for people who sport braces. Of course, toffee, sticky candy, popcorn, and anything filled with sugar is also out, but there are many worthy replacements. And since it’s Valentine’s Day, we can suggest some food with aphrodisiacs!
Oysters are a well-known aphrodisiac, and they are soft to the tongue and thus easy on braces. Put them in a stew with heavy cream and seasoning, and you’re on your way to one hearty braces-friendly meal for the holiday! This recipe also has some garlic, which can be rough on the breath but is also known as an aphrodisiac.
Pasta, with its soft texture, is good for people with braces. It won’t harm brackets and wires, and remnants can be easily removed. We can take it a step further with this dinner recommendation from our Surprise orthodontist.
With cheese and fresh zucchini, mushrooms and spinach, this recipe is a winner all around. It’s easy on braces and contains the aphrodisiac garlic in addition to basil, also an aphrodisiac. When the vegetables are cooked, they’ll be soft and easy on your orthodontia along with the lasagna noodles.
What’s Valentine’s Day without a treat? We have a braces-friendly suggestion there for you, as well, and it avoids having your braces mix with hard or sticky sugar-filled sweets. Ice cream (without nuts) and soft cake are two braces-friendly dessert options that are always popular, never mind delicious. Chocolate is everyone’s favorite aphrodisiac, and cayenne pepper also serves as one, so here’s a recipe that combines both to make a smooth drink with lingering warmth.
