Dear Valued Patient,
You will notice some additional measures we have implemented to keep everyone in our office safe. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends an additional health screening as well as a supplemental informed consent prior to being seen for an appointment.
POTENTIAL SICKNESS – If within the last 14 days you have had a fever, any cold or flu-like symptoms, or have had close contact with anyone who has had cold or flu-like symptoms, please let us know and we will reschedule your appointment.
PATIENTS ONLY – Please refrain from bringing additional siblings or guests to appointments. A parent or guardian may accompany minor children and will be required to fill out the health screening questionnaire and informed consent prior to the appointment.
FACE MASKS – We are requiring face masks be worn while in our office, with the exception of patients currently receiving treatment.
PHYSICAL DISTANCING – Please maintain the recommended 6 feet physical distance from others while inside the office, whenever possible. We will do our best to manage appointments to allow for social distancing. If you arrive more than 5 minutes early for your appointment time, please wait in your car to allow for social distancing in our reception area. We are asking that ONLY PATIENTS USE OUR RECEPTION AREA to allow for physical distancing.
TEMPERATURE CHECKS – We will be checking temperatures of all patients prior to treatment using a touchless forehead thermometer. Patients who report with a fever will be asked to reschedule.
Some other preventive safety measures that are currently in place include:
HAND SANITIZER – We have hand sanitizer available for use throughout the office.
AMENITIES – To reduce the spread of germs, we will not be offering magazines, children’s toys or video games for the time being. Also, our brushing station is currently closed, so please brush prior to your appointment.
STAFF TEMPERATURE CHECKS – We are checking the temperatures of all team members at the beginning of each day. Any team member who reports feeling ill or with an elevated temperature will be asked to go home.
PPE – You will notice our team wearing some additional personal protective equipment to keep themselves, as well as our patients, safe during treatment. This may include face shields, disposable gowns, Kn95 masks, and masks worn by our administrative team.
SURFACE SANITATION – Prior to the COVID-19 outbreak, we followed “universal precautions” throughout our office to sterilize and sanitize treatment and common areas. Treatment areas are sanitized following every appointment, as always, and common areas (reception, restroom, toothbrush station, etc.) are sanitized with hospital-grade disinfectants hourly.
AIR PURIFIERS – We have two new medical grade air purifiers running in our office. Their H13 HEPA filters will offer 99.97% particle removal down to 0.1 microns.
VIRTUAL APPOINTMENTS – We are offering virtual appointments as an option for certain types of appointments. If you would prefer a virtual appointment via Zoom, please email us at staff@surprisesmiles.com.
If you have any questions regarding these safety measures or your upcoming appointment, please don’t hesitate to contact us at 623.544.1334 or staff@surprisesmiles.com. We look forward to welcoming you back to our office!
